Daily news is a type of newspaper that is published every day. It covers a wide variety of topics including politics, current events, business, sports, and more. Daily news is available both online and in print. It is an important source of information for both the general public and the government.

The New York Daily News is an American tabloid newspaper based in the City of New York, founded on December 16, 1919. The paper was one of the first to publish in tabloid format and reached its peak circulation in 1947, when it was the eleventh-highest circulated daily in the United States. The News is an early user of the Associated Press wirephoto service and developed its own large staff of photographers. The paper also focused on social intrigue, such as the romance between Wallis Simpson and King Edward VIII that led to his abdication.

In the twentieth century, the News often engaged in circulation battles with its rival, the New York Post, and was known for sensational headlines such as “Ford to City: Drop Dead!” The newspaper’s heyday ended with the rise of the tabloids, but it remains one of the largest-circulation newspapers in the United States.

While the number of print copies sold has declined, the digital editions of the newspaper have grown significantly. In Q4 2022, the top 50 daily newspapers ranked by digital audience (measured by Comscore) averaged 8.8 million monthly unique visitors. These figures are comparable to the previous quarter but a substantial decline from the same period in 2021, when the average was 12.2 million.

It is difficult to gauge the total digital audience for all daily newspapers, because some of the country’s largest publications do not report their digital subscription numbers to the trade group formerly known as the Newspaper Association of America, and others do not report them at all. However, the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal and The Washington Post each have independently reported their digital subscription numbers in publicly available reports. These numbers can be merged with the totals from AAM to give a rough estimate of digital audience for the country’s top-circulation daily newspapers.

The Yale Daily News is the nation’s oldest college daily newspaper, and is editorially and financially independent of Yale and New Haven. The News is published Monday through Friday during the academic year, with special issues for major events such as Yale-Harvard Game Day and Commencement. In addition, the News produces annual special issues that celebrate Yale’s Indigenous, Black, Latine, and Asian American communities in collaboration with the schools’ cultural centers and affiliated student groups. The News is distributed on campus and in the surrounding community and is available free of charge to all Yale students. In addition, it is available in the New Haven area as a weekly print supplement called WKND and the Yale Daily News Magazine.
